Shenan Prestwich (whose work can also be seen under her maiden name, Shenan Hahn) is a poet living and working in the Washington, DC area. She has been writing poetry for over a decade, and graduated in 2010 with her Master of Arts degree in creative writing from Johns Hopkins University. Working primarily in a modern formalist style, she hopes that her writing will accomplish what inspires her most about any form of expression: to let us understand, for a brief moment, a piece of humanity that is not our own, to live it and breathe it as if it were our own life and breath.
In addition to writing poetry, Shenan has contributed articles to DCBeer and Lip magazine. She serves as co-editor-in-chief of Prompt & Circumstance, a website that provides monthly cross-genre writing prompts in a variety of categories, and its corresponding quarterly journal, Promptly. She also serves as assistant poetry editor for Outside In Literary and Travel Magazine.
Outside of her literary pursuits, Shenan enjoys cognitive research, cameras, craft beer, bluegrass, the great outdoors, long drives, good people, and bad karaoke.
